Talk with a Techie: Ollie Storey

Ollie Storey

We managed to pin down our youngest developer Ollie Philpott for a Talk with a Techie. He’s been coding for six years and with us for seven months, so he’s fresh to the development world. So let the talk begin!

Ollie Storey's Response:

"I wanted to be a footballer. I played for a couple of teams but I broke my leg, putting me out of action for 13 months. If it wasn’t for that  I’m certain I could’ve made it to the premier league!"

Ollie Storey's Response:

"I was a paperboy for a year when I was 15. I loved my paper round, I got to ride my bike and have half an hour in the fresh air before school until one day when the roads were particularly icy. I came off my bike at the top of a steep hill, slid all the way to the bottom on my face and hands then slammed into a brick wall. I quit the following day."

Ollie Storey's Response

"Every day is different but I always start off with brushing my teeth. At work, I tackle the high priority items first like urgent support tickets then work on my projects such as a custom dashboard for support tickets in the afternoon. I try to fit in some learning over lunch too."

Ollie Storey's Response:

"C#. It’s the language I’m the most comfortable with, you can do a lot with it and it’s a Microsoft creation so it comes with a wide range of support, resources and a really active community of C# developers too."

Ollie Storey's Response:

"Challenging, Fun, Rewarding and Interesting.

Ollie Storey's Response:

"Technology is definitely advancing quickly! I think websites will stay quite consistent but aspects of them will develop and change to fit with emerging technology trends like VR."

Ollie Storey's Response:

"I wouldn’t say I’ve found it yet."

Ollie Storey's Response

"I don’t like planning that far ahead. Short term I’d like a car, one with four wheels preferably."
